Ancestors in the Archives is a professional genealogical research service based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is owned and operated by Steve Moray. Steve has over 20 years of genealogical research experience and has received undergraduate degrees in both History and Archaeology. He is currently working toward a coordinated Master’s program in History and Library Science/Archives and has experience not only researching in archival institutions, but working in them as well. His research interests include late 19th and early 20 century immigration, the Great Lake Region (especially Michigan), French Canada, and the Polish in Chicago.


An initial reference interview to determine the nature and scope of the project is performed at no charge. Once the project limits are set, research is billed at $30 per hour plus expenses, outlined in a project contract. After the initial project has been completed, the client may extend the original parameters or request additional projects.
